The Telx project encompassed approximately 20,000 SF of mission critical white space located on the 10th floor. The critical electrical load was fed from sixteen 84-pole remote power panels which were served from six 450 kVA power distribution units. The six power distribution units were fed from a new 1200 kW (N+1) UPS system. A new 3000A main tie-main switchboard with utility/emergency breaker pairs fed the UPS/HVAC equipment.
Two new 2000kW diesel engine generators in a common sound attenuated weatherproof enclosure were installed on the 23rd floor roof. A new 7,500-gallon fuel oil tank with duplex pump system was installed in the 2nd sub-basement to serve the new generators.
The cooling system consisted of redundant 8” glycol supply and return risers which served 22 critical room air conditioning units. Three roof-mounted dry coolers served the load.
The work of this heavy mechanical job was performed in and on a landmarked building, which required considerable coordination to achieve aesthetic requirements.
